Claude Agents Get Cloudflare Boost

Cloudflare and Anthropic have teamed up to integrate Claude Managed Agents with Cloudflare Sandboxes, offering developers unprecedented control, security, and scalability for their AI agent deployments. This collaboration allows Anthropic's powerful Claude agents to leverage Cloudflare's robust infrastructure for code execution, secure connections, and custom tool calls.

The core innovation lies in decoupling Claude's AI logic—its "brain"—from the execution environment, or "hands." While the agent loop runs within Anthropic's platform, the underlying infrastructure for code execution, web browsing, and tool interaction can now reside on Cloudflare.

This integration brings enhanced security, running all agent traffic through customizable proxies to inject credentials securely, prevent data exfiltration, and improve observability. Developers gain detailed sandbox metrics, logs, and the ability to SSH into running machines or customize sandbox images.

For scalable, cost-effective agent execution, Cloudflare introduces lightweight V8 isolates. These boot in milliseconds and minimize infrastructure spend, offering a faster alternative to traditional microVMs for high-concurrency workloads.

Agents can securely connect to private internal services without exposing them to the internet, leveraging Cloudflare Mesh and Workers VPC for post-quantum encrypted networking.

Browser Run provides agents with fully programmable and observable browsers, complete with session recordings and audit trails. Agents also gain individual email addresses, enabling autonomous communication and interaction.

The Cloudflare Developer Platform further extends agent capabilities. This includes built-in support for image generation via Workers AI, R2 object storage for file hosting, and easy custom tool integration without additional infrastructure overhead.
