Digital website accessibility startup, UserWay, announced the beta launch of FixMyCode.ai, the first coding assistant focused on digital accessibility and ADA compliance. The AI-powered tool was named #1 Product of the Day on Product Hunt on its debut last week.
FixMyCode.ai offers developers a free resource to generate accessible code, either through conversational inputs or by correcting partially or completely inaccessible code. It also provides explanations for the code changes it implements, serving as an educational instrument for developers.
According to the startup, approximately 97% of websites are currently inaccessible, and with 200,000 new sites launching daily, there's a risk of the digital divide widening. UserWay is leveraging AI to bridge this gap and promote the creation of more inclusive and accessible digital experiences.
The Generative AI model behind FixMyCode.ai has been trained on WCAG, the international digital accessibility standards, and UserWay's own accessible coding practices. Since its inception in 2016, UserWay has dedicated its services to enhancing online experiences for over 1 billion individuals globally living with disabilities. UserWay's AI-powered products have improved the accessibility, usability, and compliance of over 1 million websites worldwide, catering to developers, designers, and organizations of all sizes, such as Coca-Cola, Disney, and the UN.
As part of its initiative to promote FixMyCode and accessible coding practices, UserWay has launched the "AI for Accessibility" Discord community, aimed at raising developer awareness about the importance of accessibility, inclusivity, and usability online.
