Rum Group, a company rapidly expanding its footprint in artificial intelligence infrastructure, has announced a record-breaking second quarter, with revenue soaring 61% year-over-year to $40.4 million. The company is now forecasting between $87 million and $93 million in revenue for the third quarter. This growth trajectory is significantly boosted by the recent acquisition of Northern Data, which has been rebranded under Rum Group's AI compute-as-a-service business, Quake AI. Chris Pavlovski, CEO and founder of Rum Group, discussed the company's pivot and its ambitious plans for the AI sector.

From Video Platform to AI Powerhouse

In a significant strategic shift, Rum Group has divided its operations into two core divisions: Rumble, its video platform, and Quake AI, its AI compute services business. This diversification marks a deliberate move to capitalize on the burgeoning demand for AI infrastructure. Pavlovski highlighted the strong performance in the second quarter, stating, "In q one, we did $25,500,000. In q two, which we just reported, we did $40,400,000, which is a record for the company." The acquisition of Northern Data, completed in mid-June, has directly contributed to this revenue surge, adding $10.1 million in the most recent quarter. This strategic acquisition positions Rum Group to offer AI compute services, a market characterized by high demand and limited supply.

Monetizing AI Infrastructure: The Quake AI Strategy

Pavlovski detailed Rum Group's substantial AI infrastructure assets, which include over 20,000 NVIDIA GPUs, encompassing H100 and H200 generations. The company also boasts 250 megawatts of unmonitized power, with 150 megawatts located in Georgia. This untapped power capacity represents a significant revenue opportunity, estimated at $3 billion annually. Pavlovski emphasized the company's focus on monetizing this capacity, noting that the current monetized estate is generating approximately $6 to $7 million per megawatt. He projected that the inclusion of next-generation GPUs like Blackwell could dramatically increase this revenue per megawatt, referencing industry estimates of $30 to $50 million per gigawatt. "My team is heads down 100% on monetizing that two fifty as fast as possible," Pavlovski stated, underscoring the urgency and strategic importance of this initiative. The company has already achieved an 80-85% utilization rate on its current GPU estate and is actively seeking clients for its unmonetized power capacity.

The Future of Rum Group: AI, Robotics, and Data Synergy

While the AI infrastructure business is a primary focus, Pavlovski also addressed the future of Rum Group's established video platform. He sees a potential synergy between the video content and the advancement of AI, particularly in the realm of robotics. "I think the video side provides a real opportunity when we get into this robotic era of AI. The video data is going to be very compelling in order for training, robotics," he explained. With over 57 million monthly active users on its video platform, Rum Group is uniquely positioned to gather vast amounts of video data. Pavlovski believes this data, combined with their AI compute capabilities, creates a competitive moat that differentiates Rum Group from other cloud providers. "We have what the neoclass have, and that's the power, the land, the GPUs, but we also have something they don't have, and that's the video data," he concluded, highlighting the company's distinct advantage in the AI landscape.
