Robinhood is opening its platform to artificial intelligence agents, enabling them to execute trades and make credit card purchases on behalf of users. This integration, announced on May 27, 2026, marks a significant step into what the company terms 'agentic finance'.

Customers can now connect their own AI agents directly to Robinhood. The platform offers built-in safety controls and a real-time activity feed to monitor these autonomous actions. This allows for automated trading strategies or simplified purchasing decisions, such as finding the cheapest flights.

Agentic Trading Unveiled

The new Agentic Trading feature allows AI agents to access Robinhood's trading capabilities. Users can establish a separate account for their agents, limiting their access to designated funds. This ensures a clear separation from the user's main portfolio.

Traders will receive push notifications for every agent-initiated trade and can view a live activity log and profit/loss statements within the Robinhood app. A simple button allows for immediate pausing of trading activity.

AI agents can be programmed with specific investment goals. For instance, an agent could rebalance a portfolio to manage concentration risk, build a thematic portfolio based on AI or semiconductor convictions, or execute a mean reversion strategy for active traders.

Initially, Agentic Trading will support equities in beta, with plans to expand to options, crypto, and futures soon.

Agentic Credit Card for Autonomous Spending

The Agentic Credit Card allows AI agents to make purchases. Users connect their agents to a virtual Robinhood Gold Card, set spending limits, and decide whether manual approval is required for each transaction. By default, agents are restricted to this virtual card, with no access to primary card details or other Robinhood account information.

Agents can scan for optimal prices and make purchases automatically, earning 3% cash back. This capability is particularly useful for tasks like securing limited-edition items or finding specific deals, streamlining everyday spending for users. This also extends to AI agents for credit card purchases and is built upon frameworks for secure AI payments, as detailed in The blueprint for secure AI agent payments is here.

Examples include a sneaker enthusiast instructing an agent to buy a specific shoe below a certain price, or a foodie agent securing restaurant reservations. Small business owners could automate multi-item orders, and pet owners might use agents to find highly-rated pet products.

Safety features include monthly spending caps, detailed expense history, and the ability to delete the virtual card instantly. The Agentic Credit Card is available to existing Gold Card customers, with Platinum Card support coming later.

Safety-First Approach

Robinhood emphasizes user control with features like fraud detection, optional manual approvals for purchases, and the ability to preview trades. The platform states that autonomous finance does not mean surrendering control.

The company is also expanding capabilities and introducing new AI-powered products for everyday investors.
