Glasgow HealthTech Trio Secures €1.1M Early Funding

Glasgow-based HealthTech startups Silver Lion Innovations, Seluna, and Smplicare collectively secured over €1.1 million in early-stage funding. STAC Invest, the investment arm of Scotland's STAC accelerator, led this Glasgow HealthTech funding round. This capital will advance their innovative healthcare solutions.

Advancing Health and Social Care Solutions

Silver Lion Innovations, founded in 2018, develops EasyOver, a smart mattress topper. This device enables safe, comfortable turning for people with limited mobility. It improves quality of life for both patients and caregivers. Unlike some traditional medical equipment providers like Arjo, Silver Lion focuses on smart, user-centric design.

Seluna, co-founded in 2022, creates machine learning-enabled software for childhood sleep apnoea diagnosis. This solution streamlines sleep study interpretation and enhances diagnostic accuracy. It represents a significant step in AI in healthcare. This offers a distinct approach compared to established sleep tech companies such as ResMed.

Smplicare, established in 2021, builds fall prevention technology for older adults. Their platform uses machine learning algorithms to predict fall risk with high accuracy. This proactive approach differs from reactive telecare systems offered by companies like Tunstall Healthcare.

The Glasgow HealthTech funding will accelerate product development. It will also facilitate validation studies and expand market reach for all three companies. This investment supports broader HealthTech innovation in Scotland.

All three startups operate from thebeyond, STAC’s innovation hub in Glasgow. This hub continues to attract significant Glasgow HealthTech funding. STAC provides an 18-month program, offering mentorship and market access, crucial for startup funding success.
