Even taking out all the positives of pex piping, it's insanely easy to install and cheap. Why are builders not just using pex? Seems like they'd save/make more money and be doing less work. Why use copper or CPVC over pex?

Do most plumbers know about pex manifolds? I put one in my house when I built it. And I love it for repairs. Dedicated lines with shutoffs. Inlet on the bottom. Hot water heater connections on the top. It was around $250 in 2012.
