This new capability aims to transform how businesses interact with their data by enabling more sophisticated inquiries and automated analysis. According to the announcement, this feature is part of Databricks’ ongoing push into agentic AI for data analysis.
Traditionally, data analysis tools require users to formulate precise queries. Agent mode, however, shifts this paradigm. Users can now pose complex questions such as, "Why did our churn rate spike in Q3?" or "How can we optimize our campaign spend?" Genie then operates like a data analyst, developing a plan, testing hypotheses, and iteratively querying data to arrive at a comprehensive answer.
