Amazon continues its deep integration into Virginia's economic fabric, pouring billions into infrastructure and workforce development. Since 2010, the tech giant has injected $190 billion into the Commonwealth, a figure encompassing everything from employee compensation to sprawling fulfillment centers.
The company's commitment is most acutely felt in its burgeoning cloud infrastructure. Amazon Web Services (AWS) launched its first global region in Northern Virginia in 2006, laying the groundwork for what has become a colossal investment in data centers. This ongoing expansion includes a planned $35 billion commitment to build new data center campuses across the state by 2040.
