Amazon is expanding its Alexa+ voice assistant, bringing it to a new line of Bose speakers. The integration allows users to interact with Alexa hands-free for music discovery, service booking, and smart home control directly from their Bose devices.
This move, detailed by Amazon News, leverages Bose's audio hardware to enhance Alexa's capabilities. Customers can now ask Alexa to suggest music based on mood or context, find specific songs, or even create playlists.
Beyond music, Alexa+ on Bose speakers enables natural language interactions for tasks like making restaurant reservations, reordering household items, and managing smart home devices, akin to other integrations discussed in relation to smart home devices and smart home devices.
New agentic experiences are also being built by partners like Expedia, Yelp, and Angi, allowing users to discover and book various services directly through Alexa+.
New Bose Hardware Features Alexa+
The new Bose Lifestyle Ultra Speaker and Soundbar are the first to feature Alexa+ built-in. Users can request music from movies, discover new artists, or ask for playlists tailored to specific activities.
Conversational commands are key, with examples like "Alexa, play that famous pop song that has Van Halen in it" or "Alexa, play that song from that movie where the guy holds up the boombox outside his girlfriend’s house."
This expansion also includes availability on several existing Bose products in the U.S., such as the Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar, various Bose Smart Soundbars (models 300, 600, 900), the Bose Portable Smart Speaker, and multiple Bose Home Speakers and Soundbars.
Alexa+ is offered as a free feature for Amazon Prime members. Non-Prime users can access it for $19.99 per month.
