DarLink AI does one thing better than every rival we track: it tells you exactly what an image and a video cost before you pay. An image is 2 tokens, a video is 20, and those numbers are printed on the pricing page. Candy AI and My Dream Companion both hide that until after checkout. But DarLink has a problem that outweighs it, and it is the single loudest thing about the platform on Reddit: getting your money back out is hard. Here is everything you need to know.

What Is DarLink AI?

DarLink AI is an AI companion platform built around creating a virtual girlfriend or boyfriend you can chat with, call, and generate images and video of. It launched in November 2023 and is run out of Switzerland. The product splits into four surfaces: a character Generator, a Chat interface, an Explore feed of community-made companions, and a My AI library of the ones you have built.

The positioning is closer to a creator platform than most rivals. Companions made by users appear in a public feed with @handles attached, paid tiers carry a Creator Badge, and the two upper plans let you add a support link to your profile. That is a different model from Candy AI, where the catalogue is curated and you are a consumer of it rather than a contributor to it.

On our 0-100 startup score DarLink sits at 14, which is low, and its domain rating of 52 is the weakest of the platforms in the table above. Neither number is a verdict on the product, but together they say this is a young, thinly-linked operation rather than an established one. It was founded less than three years ago and has not accumulated the citation footprint its rivals have.

Published Token Costs

This is DarLink's genuine advantage and it deserves to be first. The pricing page states that image generation costs 2 tokens and video generation costs 20, on every tier. Coin allowances are 100, 300 and 500 a month depending on plan. That means you can do the arithmetic before you pay: 100 coins is 50 images, or 5 videos, or some mix. Every other platform in this category we have reviewed makes you subscribe before you learn the exchange rate.

Roleplay Engine

Roleplay is tiered rather than uniform. Essential gets Quick Roleplay creation, Advanced gets Deep Roleplay creation, and Ultimate adds an Elite Roleplay Engine with unlimited roleplay creation. DarLink does not publish what separates the three, so the ladder is a marketing distinction until you have paid to compare them.

Memory

Also tiered: Basic on Essential, Enhanced on Advanced, and Living memory on Ultimate. As with roleplay, no context window or message count is published, so there is no way to compare it against Kupid AI, which does state its window in messages.

Voice

Six standard voice options on Essential, ten premium ones on the two higher tiers. Voice is a selection of presets rather than a live calling feature, which is worth knowing if you arrived expecting the phone-call experience Kupid AI leads with.

Message Limits

Essential includes 6,000 messages a month and Advanced 9,000, with only Ultimate offering unlimited. Six thousand is generous for casual use and restrictive for the heavy roleplay this platform is built around, which is the quiet reason the middle tier exists.

DarLink AI Pricing (2026)

Two things to flag about how this page presents itself. First, every price leads with a per-day figure, so Ultimate is advertised as $1.10 a day rather than $395.88 a year. That is the same framing My Dream Companion uses, and it works the same way: a number too small to feel like a decision.

Second, the yearly toggle carries a SAVE 44% badge, and no tier actually saves 44%. Essential goes from $12.99 to $9.99, which is 23% off. Advanced saves 32%, Ultimate 34%. The per-tier badge on Advanced correctly says 32%, so the accurate number exists on the same screen as the inflated one. There is also a countdown timer above the plans announcing that the offer ends in about ten hours. Treat both as decoration.

Where DarLink is genuinely fair is the token economy. At 2 tokens an image, the 100 coins on Essential cover 50 images a month, and a 20-token video costs the same as ten images. You can decide whether that suits you before you spend anything, which is more than Candy AI or My Dream Companion allow.

That last user reported being seven emails deep over eight days and considering a card chargeback. A third eventually located the control on desktop under Settings, then Account Information, at the bottom in small text. Is DarLink AI Safe?

Safe in the sense that matters least, and frustrating in the sense that matters most. There is no evidence of malware, fake charges, or a non-existent product: you get what you subscribe to, and the platform works. Card statements and crypto payment are both supported, and the site presents a cookie consent choice rather than assuming it.

The real risk here is commercial, not technical. On the evidence above, budget for the possibility that cancelling takes an email exchange and a couple of days rather than a click. Several users recommended paying with a virtual card carrying a spending limit, which is sensible advice for any subscription of this type and particularly this one. If you subscribe, do it on the monthly plan first and confirm you can find the cancel control before you commit to a year.

DarLink AI is the most transparent platform in this category on the one number that usually stays hidden, and the least transparent on the one that should be trivial. Publishing that an image costs 2 tokens and a video 20 is genuinely better than what Candy AI or My Dream Companion offer. Building a product where users email support for two days to stop being billed undoes that goodwill completely.

Our verdict is that the product is fine and the billing is not. If DarLink put a cancel button in the account settings where everyone expects it, this would be a straightforward recommendation at $119.88 a year for the entry tier. As it stands, subscribe monthly, pay with a card you can cap, and find the cancel control on day one rather than day thirty.
