OpenAI has secured a monumental $110 billion funding round, pushing its pre-money valuation to an astonishing $730 billion. Announced on February 27, 2026, this massive capital infusion includes $50 billion from Amazon, $30 billion from NVIDIA, and $30 billion from SoftBank, with additional financial investors expected.

The investment addresses surging AI demand across consumers, developers, and businesses, requiring substantial compute, distribution, and capital. These partnerships are designed to expand global reach, deepen infrastructure, and strengthen OpenAI's balance sheet to deliver frontier AI worldwide.

Alongside the capital, OpenAI announced a multi-year strategic partnership with Amazon. This collaboration aims to accelerate AI innovation for enterprises, startups, and end consumers. The company is also expanding its long-standing collaboration with NVIDIA, securing 3GW of dedicated inference capacity and 2GW of training on Vera Rubin systems, augmenting existing Hopper and Blackwell deployments.

OpenAI’s products demonstrate significant growth. Weekly Codex users have more than tripled this year to 1.6 million, while over 9 million paying business users rely on ChatGPT. The consumer version boasts over 900 million weekly active users and more than 50 million subscribers, with January and February 2026 marking record months for new sign-ups.

CEO Sam Altman emphasized the necessity of deep collaboration across the stack to build AI that works for everyone. This funding and the new partnerships are crucial for scaling infrastructure fast enough to meet demand, transforming capacity into reliable products, and advancing the mission of ensuring AGI benefits all humanity.

The new valuation significantly increases the OpenAI Foundation’s stake in OpenAI Group to over $180 billion, further empowering the non-profit to fund philanthropy in areas like health breakthroughs and AI resilience.
