Google DeepMind has unveiled Nano Banana 2, its latest AI image generation model, aiming to consolidate the best of its previous offerings into a single, high-performance package. This new iteration combines the advanced intelligence and creative control of Nano Banana Pro with the lightning-fast processing of Gemini Flash. Building on the viral success of the original Nano Banana AI model, Nano Banana 2 promises rapid iteration without sacrificing quality.
Pro Capabilities at Flash Speed
Nano Banana 2 leverages Gemini's extensive real-world knowledge base, integrating real-time information from web search for more accurate subject rendering. This deep understanding supports the creation of complex visuals, from infographics and diagrams to detailed data visualizations. The model also boasts precision text rendering and translation, enabling legible text for marketing materials or localized content.
Beyond speed, the model significantly enhances creative control. Users can maintain subject consistency for up to five characters and fourteen objects within a single workflow, crucial for storyboarding. Its improved instruction following ensures the model adheres strictly to complex prompts, delivering images that precisely match user intent. Production-ready specs include full control over aspect ratios and resolutions, from 512px to 4K, ensuring visual fidelity across various platforms.
Widespread Integration and Provenance
Google is rolling out Nano Banana 2 across its product ecosystem, including the Gemini app, Google Search (AI Mode and Lens), AI Studio, and Google Cloud's Vertex AI. It will also serve as the default image generation model in Flow and power suggestions within Google Ads campaigns. This broad deployment aims to make advanced AI image generation accessible across numerous workflows.
Concurrently, Google continues to strengthen its provenance efforts for generative media. Nano Banana 2 images will integrate SynthID technology with C2PA Content Credentials, providing a comprehensive audit trail for AI-generated content. This initiative has already seen over 20 million uses of SynthID verification in the Gemini app since November, with C2PA verification soon to follow.
