Europe is making a definitive statement in the global AI race with the announcement of Alice Recoque, France’s first and Europe’s second Exascale AI supercomputer. This monumental project, a collaboration between AMD and Eviden, signifies a critical leap for the continent's scientific computing and artificial intelligence capabilities. Set to be operational in 2025, Alice Recoque is poised to become a cornerstone for European digital sovereignty and innovation.
At its core, Alice Recoque will leverage next-generation AMD EPYC "Venice" CPUs and AMD Instinct MI430X GPUs, a new accelerator specifically engineered for sovereign AI and scientific computing. The MI430X GPUs are particularly noteworthy, integrating a massive 432 GB of HBM4 memory and delivering 19.6 TB/s of bandwidth, alongside support for advanced AI data types like FP4 and FP8. This formidable hardware foundation, interconnected by Eviden’s BXI network solution within its BullSequana XH3500 platform, ensures unparalleled capacity and throughput essential for the most demanding AI and HPC workloads.
