HubSpot co-founder and CTO Dharmesh Shah is folding his Agent.ai initiative directly into HubSpot’s core offering. The standalone Agent.ai platform will cease operations on August 22, 2026, with its underlying vision now fueling HubSpot Agent Builder and Agent Hub.

Why the Shift?

Agent.ai initially aimed to foster a broad community and marketplace for AI agents, allowing non-developers to create and share. HubSpot has steadily integrated this vision, positioning agents as native CRM workflows rather than a separate destination. This allows for CRM AI agent integration where customer context already exists.

HubSpot states that Agent Hub centralizes agent management for go-to-market teams. The HubSpot Agent Builder enables users to create custom agents and automations using existing customer data, deal history, contact records, call transcripts, and buying signals, without separate setup or field mapping.

This strategy indicates a clear pivot: rather than competing with broader developer ecosystems, HubSpot is embedding agent creation into its customers' daily software. This strategic move aligns with the evolving AI agent market consolidation, where success increasingly comes from proximity to proprietary data and existing workflows.

What Happens to Agent.ai Users?

Agent.ai users will receive migration guidance. Paid subscribers will not be charged again and gain an additional month of access until the shutdown date. Instructions for exporting content and data will also be provided.

The company emphasizes this is not an abandonment, but a new chapter. For Shah, his latest venture is absorbed, not retired. Agent.ai started as a destination; now it becomes a feature within the HubSpot platform, a move that could reshape HubSpot product strategy.
