Shutterstock (NYSE: SSTK), the global creative platform, announced a new offering to indemnify enterprise customers for the use of images created through Generative AI. The move aims to protect customers from potential claims related to the use of such images and continues to compensate artists through Shutterstock's AI-specific Contributor Fund.
The company is the first to offer Generative AI image indemnification, a critical advancement for the industry, allowing creatives and business professionals to use the AI created content for any purpose without worrying about copyright infringement or ethical issues.
Shutterstock's indemnification offering is part of its strategic steps in bringing AI to creative production. The company recently launched its AI Design Assistant and DALL-E powered AI Image Generator, which converts text prompts into visuals ready for licensing.
The AI image generator is trained on hundreds of millions of ethically-sourced assets, ensuring customers can generate and license new assets with commercial safety while protecting and compensating the artists who contributed to the content that trained the models.
Shutterstock continues to invest and engage in strategic partnerships to amplify the value of its high-quality content library, partnering with tech industry leaders like NVIDIA, Meta, OpenAI, and LG to develop Generative AI tools and standards for creators.
