Google's Next-Gen AI Language Model, PaLM 2

Google has introduced PaLM 2, its next-generation language model with enhanced multilingual, reasoning, and coding capabilities. PaLM 2 is trained on multilingual text spanning more than 100 languages, improving its understanding, generation, and translation of nuanced text. It has improved logical and common sense reasoning and mathematics skills, and excels at popular programming languages. PaLM 2 is more efficient and comes in four sizes, making it suitable for a wide range of use cases.

PaLM 2 powers over 25 Google products and features, including Bard, Workspace features in Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Sheets. Med-PaLM 2, trained with medical knowledge, can answer questions and summarize insights from medical texts. Sec-PaLM is designed for security use cases and helps analyze and explain potentially malicious scripts. Developers can sign up to use the PaLM 2 model, or customers can use it in Vertex AI.

Google is also working on Gemini, a multimodal, highly efficient model designed for tool and API integrations, and built to enable future innovations like memory and planning.
