Airwallex Expands to Israel with Tel Aviv Office, Or Liban Appointed as Head of Israel and the Middle East

Airwallex, a leading global payments and financial platform for modern businesses, has officially launched in Israel to drive future expansion across the region, including the appointment of Or Liban as Airwallex's Head of Israel and the Middle East.
Valued at $5.5 billion, Airwallex has raised over $900 million from top investors such as Salesforce Ventures, Sequoia, Tencent, and Lone Pine Capital. The company processes over $50 billion in annualized transactions for clients like Papaya Global, OurCrowd, Qantas, Navan, Shein, and more.
Choosing Tel Aviv for its first regional office, Airwallex aims to capitalize on strong customer demand and the booming Israeli technology ecosystem. The company already serves many leading Israeli tech businesses and global companies.
"Israel is at the forefront of tech innovation and a global hub for high-growth startups. Israeli technology businesses are 'default global,' and we have already seen the impact that our payments and financial infrastructure can have for them as they grow across borders," said Pranav Sood, GM, EMEA at Airwallex.
Or Liban, previously Google's Head of Global Partnerships and holding leadership roles at Orange and the Israel Prime Minister's office, brings over 15 years of experience to Airwallex. His expertise in leading hyper-growth businesses globally, along with his knowledge of the Israel and Middle East markets, will be invaluable to Airwallex and its customers.
Founded in Melbourne, Australia, in 2015, Airwallex is among the fastest-growing payments and financial infrastructure companies worldwide. Its revenue has doubled year on year, processing more than $50 billion in annualized transaction volume for a global portfolio of companies. With 20 locations globally and a workforce of 1,300 employees, Airwallex plans to hire an additional 500 global employees by the end of 2023.
