Reddit, Pinterest, nVent sink after earnings miss

Reddit, Pinterest and nVent slid after earnings pointed to weaker outlooks and AI disruption, Bloomberg Podcasts reported in its Stock Movers Report with earnings reporter Chloe Millie.

Reddit led the drop.

Millie said Reddit shares fell on a revenue outlook below expectations and a plan to limit access to forums by requiring users to make an account, a push to trade a broad, casual audience for a smaller, more engaged base that is more valuable to advertisers but that risks lower traffic and narrower reach, and she added the move comes while Reddit is negotiating licensing contracts with large AI companies to prevent scraping of its content.

Pinterest also came under pressure after third-quarter revenue missed expectations and guidance looked subdued, Millie said, with AI shopping assistants like Muse gaining traction and Google AI Overviews answering product questions directly in search instead of driving referral traffic to Pinterest, while Pinterest's own AI shopping investments have yet to show tangible benefit and are weighing on margins.

nVent, which makes power and cooling equipment for data centers, fell because orders grew far more slowly than sales, a sign of decelerating growth that investors in AI infrastructure have feared, Millie said, noting the bar for that group is high this earnings season, Caterpillar also slipped Friday despite a slight revenue beat and only Vertiv bucked the trend after raising guidance and beating on every metric.

The slide was sharp outside the broadcast tally too, with Reddit plunging nearly 25% Friday after the results, per Yahoo Finance, alongside declines for Pinterest and Roblox, a reminder that for ad-dependent platforms and AI suppliers alike, modest misses now cost more than they used to.
