Anthropic Launches AI Fellowship

Anthropic has unveiled Claude Corps, a new national fellowship program designed to place 1,000 early-career individuals in nonprofit roles for a year, focusing on AI implementation.

The initiative aims to equip participants with practical AI skills while assisting a diverse range of American nonprofits in advancing their missions through AI tools.

Bridging the AI Skills Gap

The program commits an initial $150 million, signaling Anthropic's intent to address potential disruptions from AI by investing in the workforce.

Claude Corps is structured as a partnership between Anthropic, which leads strategy and AI expertise, and CodePath, a nonprofit that will serve as the fellows' employer of record and manage training.

Social Finance, a nonprofit investment advisor, will handle program evaluation and develop scaling mechanisms.

Fellowship Details and Impact

Each 12-month fellowship includes intensive initial training and ongoing weekly sessions on utilizing Claude in nonprofit contexts.

Fellows will receive a $85,000 salary, benefits, and mentorship, dedicating their full-time efforts to host organizations.

Over 400 nonprofits are expected to host fellows, including organizations like Braven, Code the Dream, and the Montgomery County Food Bank.

This program seeks to demonstrate a model for wider AI benefit distribution during economic transformation.
