Spiral Hydrogen is an Estonian-Dutch deeptech startup focused on revolutionizing green hydrogen production. They have developed a proprietary rotating, bubble-free electrolysis technology designed to significantly improve the efficiency of hydrogen generation. Unlike conventional electrolyzers that suffer from energy loss due to gas bubbles forming on electrodes, Spiral Hydrogen's approach routes gases through a porous electrode into a dedicated channel. This innovation enables efficiency levels above 90% and aims to lower the cost of green hydrogen production, making it commercially viable at scale. The company is transitioning from laboratory development to pilot deployment, with plans for a pilot electrolyzer at the Port of Rotterdam in partnership with SwitcH2.
