The Business Development Manager will play a key role in expanding company clientele by creating and implementing an effective sales strategy. In this position, the Business Development Manager will coordinate with company executives and sales & marketing professionals to review current market trends in order to propose new business ideas that can improve revenue margins The goal in this position is to drive sustainable financial growth through new clients and existing clients across the U.S.
Position Overview
Adroit Advanced Technologies provides customized student transportation solutions to school districts, charter schools, and education organizations across the country. We partner with education leaders to address transportation challenges and help ensure students have access to safe, reliable transportation to and from school.
The Business Development Representative will help expand Adroit’s partnerships by connecting with school and district leaders, identifying their transportation needs, and presenting solutions that support their students and communities.
This position will begin in an SDR-focused training role. During the initial ramp period, the representative will focus on prospecting, outbound outreach, qualifying opportunities, and scheduling meetings for the business development team. After successfully completing the ramp period, the representative will transition into a Business Development Manager role with responsibility for developing and growing Adroit’s Central Region.
Key Responsibilities
Phase 1: SDR Training and Ramp
October–December 2026
  • Make consistent outbound calls and send personalized follow-up emails to school districts, charter schools, education organizations, and other qualified prospects.
  • Identify and connect with superintendents, school administrators, transportation directors, procurement teams, student service professionals, social workers, McKinney-Vento liaisons, and other decision-makers.
  • Schedule qualified discovery meetings for the business development team.
  • Research target schools, districts, cooperative organizations, and education agencies throughout the Central Region.
  • Learn Adroit’s services, value proposition, target customers, sales process, pricing procedures, service capabilities, and client onboarding process.
  • Develop a working understanding of student transportation needs related to McKinney-Vento, special education, foster care, alternative education, and other student populations requiring customized transportation.
  • Shadow discovery meetings, presentations, school visits, client meetings, and industry events in preparation for territory ownership.
  • Meet established goals for outbound activity, qualified appointments, pipeline development, CRM usage, and training completion.
Phase 2: Business Development Manager – Central Region
January 2027 onward, following successful completion of the ramp period
  • Assume ownership of business development activity, pipeline development, and revenue growth throughout the assigned Central Region.
  • Travel throughout the Central Region each month to meet with prospective clients, current clients, and community partners.
  • Conduct virtual and in-person discovery meetings, presentations, school visits, relationship-building meetings, and follow-up conversations.
  • Build trusted relationships with school administrators, transportation leaders, procurement teams, student service professionals, social workers, McKinney-Vento liaisons, and other decision-makers.
  • Clearly communicate Adroit’s service model, capabilities, value, and commitment to safe and reliable student transportation.
  • Manage qualified opportunities through the complete sales process, from initial outreach and discovery through proposal development, negotiation, agreement execution, and client launch.
  • Ask for the business and consistently follow up with prospective clients until each opportunity is won, lost, or otherwise closed.
  • Prepare and coordinate proposals, pricing requests, cooperative agreements, contracts, and RFP responses according to company approval processes.
  • Maintain an active and accurate sales pipeline and provide timely updates, reports, and revenue forecasts to leadership.

Experience in sales, business development, education, student services, social work, school administration, transportation, or a related field.
• Previous sales experience or experience working with schools, districts, or education organizations is strongly preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
• Comfortable making outbound calls, initiating conversations, setting appointments, presenting to customers, asking for business, and working toward revenue goals.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, organization, time-management, and follow-up skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with Sales, Operations, Customer Care, Finance, and leadership.
• Ability to manage multiple prospects, opportunities, client relationships, deadlines, and follow-up commitments.
• Must reside in or near a major metropolitan area in Missouri, Kansas, Michigan, or Wisconsin.
• Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Central Region each month, including occasional overnight travel, evening events, and conferences.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
• CRM experience preferred; HubSpot experience is a plus.
