Software-defined AI data platform startup, WekaIO (Weka), secured $100 million in Series E funding at a $1.6 billion valuation today. The round was led by Valor Equity Partners with participation from Al Gore's Generation Investment Management,10D, Hitachi Ventures, Ibex Investors, Key1 Capital, Lumir Ventures, MoreTech Ventures, and Qualcomm Ventures.

Valor's founder and CEO, Antonio Gracias, will join WekaIO's board.

This financing round, both primary and secondary transactions ($40 million), will be used to bolster the company's financial reserves, providing flexibility to scale operations and meet the escalating global demand for AI-native data infrastructure. Additionally, the funding will support further development of WekaIO's data platform software.

Since its founding in 2013, Weka has redefined the enterprise data stack for the AI era. The startup's flagship product, WEKA® Data Platform, has gained widespread adoption, powering over 300 of the world's largest AI and GPU deployments. The investment comes as WekaIO seeks to capitalize on the surging demand for modern data infrastructure capable of supporting advanced technologies like Generative AI and high-performance GPUs.

Weka previously raised it's Series D funding round at a $750 million valuation in 2022. And for it's Series C round, it was valued at $500 million. The current funding round brings the startup's total equity raised to $385 million.

Other Israeli startups in Valor's portfolio include K Health, Xsight Labs, Lightbit Labs, Proteantecs, Quantum Machines, Wesper, Carbyne 911, Nexar and Capstack.
