ActiveFence Acquired Spectrum Labs for AI Online Safety

Israeli trust and safety intelligence startup ActiveFence acquired Spectrum Labs, a fellow startup in Contextual AI Content Moderation. The acquisition fortifies ActiveFence's robust suite of Trust and Safety solutions, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding billions of global users from online perils.

Spectrum Labs, a pioneer in text-based content moderation, has been instrumental in fortifying some of the world's most iconic online brands and communities, such as Riot Games, Grindr, and The Meet Group. The company excels in eradicating harmful content, enhancing user retention, and elevating customer experiences.

ActiveFence acquired Spectrum Labs to catapult its mission in achieving comprehensive online safety to new heights. The combination of Spectrum Labs' Contextual AI with ActiveFence's Trust and Safety Operating System and avant-garde content detection AI creates a formidable synergy.

The two startup's combined technological approaches will protect more users online and fast-track innovation in user safety, especially as Generative AI compounds the challenges.

This is ActiveFence's second major acquisition in 2023, following its earlier acquisition of Rewire.

The startup, founded in 2018 by Noam Schwartz, Alon Porat, and Eyal Dykan, has raised $100 million to date. Their latest round (Series B for $80 million) was completed in 2021, led by Charles River Ventures (CRV) and Highland Europe. Over the past 12 months, the startup's headcount has grown by 20%. Spectrum Labs' last funding round was last year when it raised $32 million. Investors in the startup include Intel Capital, OurCrowd, Wing Venture Capital, Gaingels, Munich RE Ventures and Greycroft, among others. They've raised a total of $46 million.
