Jerusalem-based FoodTech startup Mermade Seafoods has completed an oversubscribed $3.3 million seed round and is unveiling a new circular cellular agriculture technology for the production of cultivated scallops. The one-of-a-kind technology will make it possible to streamline the global scallop market and provide a high-quality, tasty product at prices far lower than what is currently available.
Mermade was founded in July 2021 by Daniel Einhorn (CEO), Dr. Rotem Kadir (CTO) and Dr. Tomer Halevy (COO). Investors in the seed round include the investment platform OurCrowd, Israel's most active venture firm; Fall Line, an American VC fund specializing in AgTech; prominent Dutch investor Sake Bosch; and others.
