VeraCrypt is a free and open-source utility for on-the-fly encryption (OTFE). It allows users to create virtual encrypted disks within files, encrypt entire partitions or storage devices, and provides pre-boot authentication for system drives. It is a fork of the discontinued TrueCrypt project, with numerous security improvements and bug fixes.
