Stellar Alpina

Stellar Alpina is a SpaceTech startup based in Zurich, Switzerland, focused on developing compact rotating detonation rocket engines (RDREs). Their technology aims to revolutionize in-space mobility by making movement between orbits faster, smaller, and more efficient. The company's engines leverage detonation waves, a supersonic combustion process, to extract more energy from propellant compared to traditional deflagration methods. This leads to smaller, lighter, and higher-performance engines with fewer mechanical components. Stellar Alpina's solutions are designed to address the growing needs of the space economy for orbital transfers, repositioning of assets, in-space servicing, assembly, and future deep-space infrastructure. They have successfully commissioned test infrastructure and completed a significant engine test campaign with their first RDRE, Engine 0, marking a key milestone in Europe.
