Assured Robot Intelligence

Assured Robot Intelligence (ARI) was a frontier AI robotics startup that built foundation models for humanoid robots, enabling them to perform physical labor such as household chores and adapt to complex, dynamic human environments. Co-founded by Xiaolong Wang (ex-Nvidia researcher and UC San Diego professor) and Lerrel Pinto (ex-NYU faculty and co-founder of Fauna Robotics), the company developed e-Flesh tactile sensor technology and had employees based in San Diego and New York. ARI was acquired by Meta on May 1, 2026, and the team joined Meta's Superintelligence Labs research division. Meta intends to use the technology to build an open robotics platform, sensors, software, and AI models, available industry-wide, mirroring what Android did for mobile.
