Novenda Technologies, an Eindhoven-based startup developing multi-material 3D printers for dental products, has raised $6.1 million in Series A financing. The round was led by Brightlands Venture Partners with support from KBC Focus Fund, Borski Fund, Limburg Business Development Fund/LIOF, several angel investors and a Dutch government Innovation Credit.
Founded in 2019 by Klaas Wiertzema, Petra Doelman and Joost Anne Veerman, Novenda installed its first prototype at the High Tech Campus Eindhoven in 2021 and demonstrated proof-of-concept night guards and dentures in 2023. Its LD100 printer now produces up to fifteen night guards or eight dentures per hour, selling as a one-time capital purchase while generating recurring revenue from Novenda’s proprietary biocompatible materials.
The platform prints hard protective and soft comfort layers in a single run, relies on software-controlled “smart print modes” instead of mechanical rollers, and uses water-soluble supports that wash away under tap water. “The combination of water-soluble support and the absence of mechanical interventions ensures unprecedented long-term accuracy and removes the bottleneck of scarce, costly dental technicians,” said chief executive Klaas Wiertzema.
Brightlands Venture Partners views the technology as a catalyst for fully digital dental workflows. “Their multi-material jetting platform sets a new benchmark for scalable, high-precision, low-waste digital dentistry,” added investment manager Olga Goor. Nuno Carvalho, investment director at KBC Focus Fund, agreed, saying the system “pushes deep-tech boundaries by enabling cost-effective, high-quality production with minimal waste and post-processing.”
Novenda employs fifteen specialists in physics, chemistry, materials science and software and holds multiple patents. The company will target mid-size and large laboratories in Europe and the United States first, then expand to other personalized-manufacturing markets; Wiertzema noted that “realizing a disruptive idea demands the right people and team spirit, and our goal is to give customers the most reliable, user-friendly printer and support they could wish for.”
