LuminX, an AI company revolutionizing warehouse automation, today announced the completion of its $5.5 million seed funding round. The investment will accelerate development of the company's edge-deployed Vision Language Models (VLMs) that transform how warehouses track inventory and manage operations.
The round was led by 1Sharpe, GTMFund, 9Yards, Chingona Ventures, and the Bond Fund, with significant participation from previous investors and customers who have experienced the technology firsthand.
Solving Warehouse Inefficiencies with Edge AI
Traditional warehouse operations rely heavily on manual processes that create costly errors and blind spots in inventory management. LuminX addresses this by deploying sophisticated AI vision systems directly onto affordable mobile hardware throughout warehouse facilities.
Unlike cloud-based solutions, LuminX's edge-deployed systems process visual data in real-time without latency or connectivity concerns. The company's cameras can "see" and interpret complex warehouse environments—recognizing products, reading varied labels, assessing package conditions, and tracking movement patterns. These versatile devices work anywhere: loading docks, conveyor belts, forklifts, or as handheld units.
"Our edge-based vision language models represent a massive step forward, acting as an intelligent core for warehouse operations," said founder and CEO Alex Kaveh Senemar. "They deliver new levels of automation and insight, helping to turn previously opaque processes into transparent, highly efficient systems."
LuminX is led by serial entrepreneur Alex Kaveh Senemar, who previously founded Voxel (voxelai.com), a pioneering AI company in warehouse safety, and Sherbit, which was acquired by Huma (huma.com) in 2019.
Co-founder and CTO Reza (Mamrez) Javanmardi brings deep technical expertise as the former Head of AI Research at Voxel, with a Ph.D. in Computer Science and extensive experience in machine learning and computer vision. The broader team includes experts with ties to leading research institutions like Carnegie Mellon University.
LuminX is already gaining traction with warehouse operators who report significant improvements in efficiency and accuracy. Vertical Cold Storage, an early adopter, has seen transformative results.
"LuminX's technology is set to revolutionize our warehouse productivity and operations," said Robert Bascom, COO of Vertical Cold Storage. "It's allowing us to automate critical tasks, significantly enhance quality, and reduce claims. In my entire career, I have yet to encounter a product that so effectively improves efficiency while simultaneously boosting quality and reliability."
Scaling AI for Logistics
The new funding will support three key initiatives: advancing core research and development in Vision Language Models optimized for logistics environments, expanding the specialized engineering team, and scaling go-to-market activities to reach more warehouse operators seeking AI-driven automation solutions.
With this foundation in place, LuminX is positioned to make advanced AI vision accessible to warehouses of all sizes, transforming an industry that has long relied on manual processes into one powered by intelligent, real-time automation.
