Stockholm-based wildlife intelligence company Flox has secured nearly €1 million in an oversubscribed Seed round. The funding was led by Unconventional Ventures, with participation from Norrsken Accelerate, Almi Invest, E14 Invest, Argand Partners, and several angel investors.
Founded in 2020, Flox develops technology to decode animal intent and communicate back in real time. The company’s goal is to enable coexistence between humans and wildlife, thereby reducing conflict and financial losses across industries. Its approach to AI wildlife management uses adaptive bioacoustics to protect infrastructure and ecosystems.
Funding to Scale AI Bioacoustics
The new capital will fuel the commercialization of Flox's fully autonomous device, Edge. Additionally, the funds are earmarked for continued research and development, with a specific focus on expansion into the United States market. This strategy follows four years of research and successful validation trials with wildlife biologists.
Flox’s technology offers a data-driven dialogue, moving beyond the static deterrents used by companies like Bird-X or the monitoring-focused systems from firms such as Wildtrack.
The company is already collaborating with prominent partners, including WWF, Alstom, and the Swedish Transport Administration. Consequently, the first production batches of its Edge device for 2025 are fully booked. This early traction in sectors like agritech and aviation demonstrates a clear market need for advanced AI wildlife management. The company's mission aligns with the growing field of sustainability tech, positioning it among innovative AI startups aiming for positive environmental impact.
