FieldAI, an AI robotics software developer, recently secured $405 million in funding across two rounds. Bezos Expedition, Prysm, and Temasek led a $315 million investment earlier this month. The venture capital arms of Nvidia and Intel also backed the company.
The company's valuation now stands at $2 billion, up from $500 million last year. FieldAI offers a software platform enabling robots to navigate challenging environments like construction sites. Furthermore, its AI models, called field foundation models (FFMs), power this AI robotics software.
FieldAI's FFMs reduce the need for extensive customization, unlike traditional autonomy software. Consequently, this AI robotics software runs on humanoid robots, autonomous vehicles, and other systems out of the box. The company trains its FFMs using customer site data and synthetic data.
FieldAI's platform allows robots to operate without maps or GPS. Customers deploy FieldAI-powered robots in hundreds of industrial environments.
Expanding Robotics Capabilities
FieldAI will use the new capital to double its headcount by year-end. This expansion will accelerate engineering efforts and grow its international presence. The company aims to enhance its robotics software offerings.
