Cloudflare is launching Agent Lee, an AI-powered assistant designed to streamline interactions with its extensive network and security platform. Moving beyond traditional, complex graphical interfaces, Agent Lee allows users to manage Cloudflare services using natural language prompts directly within the dashboard.

The core idea is to replace the manual grind of cross-referencing logs and navigating multiple tabs with a conversational interface. Agent Lee understands account configurations, error rates, and resource details, enabling users to ask questions, debug issues, or even deploy new resources with simple text commands.

Troubleshooting Reimagined

For developers facing late-night issues, like a Worker returning errors, Agent Lee promises to be the ever-present teammate. It can identify root causes across various Cloudflare services and, crucially, offer to fix them on the spot.

Capabilities and Control

Agent Lee can answer account-specific questions, debug access issues, enable services, and create resources like R2 buckets. It dynamically generates visualizations, such as charts for error rates, directly within the chat interface, eliminating the need to switch to separate analytics pages.

Crucially, Cloudflare has built robust safety mechanisms. Agent Lee connects to a permission system that classifies operations as read or write. Write operations are blocked by default and require explicit user approval through an elicitation gate before execution. API keys are never exposed in the generated code.

Built on Customer Primitives

Interestingly, Agent Lee is constructed using the same foundational technologies available to Cloudflare customers, including the Agents SDK, Workers AI, and Durable Objects. This approach ensures that the tools developed for the AI assistant are also accessible to developers building on the platform.

The system also incorporates a generative UI, creating dynamic components like charts and tables alongside text responses. This blend of natural language and structured visuals aims to make platform interaction more intuitive.

The Road Ahead

Cloudflare envisions Agent Lee evolving beyond the dashboard, becoming accessible via CLI and mobile interfaces. The long-term goal is a proactive assistant that monitors resources and alerts users to potential issues before they escalate.

Agent Lee is currently available in beta for Free plan users. Cloudflare encourages feedback to further refine its capabilities.
