Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the trailer for Verity, an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s best-selling psychological thriller. The film is set to premiere in U.S. theaters on October 2.

The movie stars Anne Hathaway as the enigmatic author Verity Crawford and Dakota Johnson as Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer tasked with completing Verity's unfinished book series. While working at the Crawford estate, Lowen stumbles upon a chilling autobiographical manuscript.

Uncovering dark secrets

This discovery forces Lowen to confront disturbing confessions, blurring the lines between fiction and reality, attraction and obsession. Josh Hartnett joins the cast as Jeremy Crawford, Verity's husband.

The film is directed by Michael Showalter, with a script by Nick Antosca and Colleen Hoover herself. This marks another Hoover novel adapted for the screen, following the 2024 release of It Ends With Us.

Fans can revisit the source material as a physical book, Kindle edition, or Audible audiobook.
