According to a comprehensive report from HumanX and Crunchbase, global AI startup funding reached unprecedented levels in 2024, totaling over $103 billion—a significant 84% growth compared to $56 billion in 2023. This surge positions AI as the leading sector for global venture capital investment, representing nearly one-third of total startup funding worldwide.
Foundation model companies continued to attract substantial investment, receiving roughly one-third of total AI funding ($31 billion). Leading this category were OpenAI ($17.6 billion raised), Anthropic ($14.3 billion), Celonis ($1.8 billion), Scale AI ($1.6 billion), and Inflection AI ($1.5 billion). Notably, Anthropic recently announced an additional Series E funding round of $3.5 billion at a valuation of $61.5 billion, emphasizing strong ongoing investor confidence.
