AMD is expanding its AI PC offerings with the new AMD Ryzen AI 400 Series and Ryzen AI PRO 400 Series processors. These chips are designed to power next-generation AI PCs, bringing enhanced on-device AI acceleration for both consumers and businesses. The announcement, made at Mobile World Congress 2026, signals AMD's continued push into the burgeoning AI hardware market.

The desktop variants are the first to support Microsoft's Copilot+ PC experiences, promising enhanced local AI processing. Featuring a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capable of up to 50 TOPS, these processors aim to keep sensitive data on the device while improving performance and privacy. This move underscores AMD's strategy to target the lucrative AI PC processors market.

Desktop Powerhouse for AI

The Ryzen AI 400 Series desktop processors combine Zen 5 CPU cores, RDNA 3.5 graphics, and an XDNA 2 NPU. This integration is intended to deliver the responsiveness and efficiency needed for demanding professional workloads, from software development to data analysis. AMD's integrated AMD NPU is central to these on-device AI capabilities.

Models like the Ryzen AI 7 450G and 450GE will offer up to 8 cores and 16 threads, with boost clocks reaching 5.1 GHz. The PRO versions are tailored for enterprise environments, emphasizing security and manageability. These desktop systems are expected from OEMs like HP and Lenovo starting in Q2 2026.

Mobile Performance Gets an AI Boost

For mobile users, the Ryzen AI 400 Series is also expanding to include mobile workstations. AMD claims up to 30% faster multithreaded performance compared to competitive offerings, coupled with all-day battery life. The mobile NPUs can deliver up to 60 TOPS, enabling advanced local AI experiences on laptops and workstations.

The Ryzen AI PRO 400 Series mobile processors are engineered for enterprise-class notebooks and mobile workstations. They aim to streamline workflows and enhance productivity through on-device AI acceleration. Dell, HP, and Lenovo are slated to release systems powered by these mobile processors in the second quarter of 2026.

Enterprise Focus with AMD PRO

AMD is reinforcing its commitment to enterprise customers with the AMD PRO platform. This platform focuses on enhanced security, manageability, and resilience for large-scale AI PC deployments. Expanded remote management features and validation with major security solutions are key components designed to simplify IT operations for businesses adopting these new AI-enabled PCs.
