AI video startup Synthesia has reportedly raised $200 million in new funding. The round values the company at $4 billion and was reportedly led by GV Management Company.
Synthesia provides a platform that uses generative AI to turn text into video. Users can create professional videos featuring lifelike digital avatars. The process is simple. A user selects an avatar, provides a script, and the system generates a finished video. The technology supports multiple languages and dialects. Synthesia focuses on enterprise clients. Its platform is used for employee training, product demos, and internal communications. This approach allows companies to create multilingual videos at scale. It avoids the high costs of traditional video production. Brands can also create custom avatars for a unique identity. The system handles voice-overs, lip-syncing, and facial motion for a realistic result. To prevent misuse, Synthesia has policies for content moderation and consent.
The new funding brings the company's total raised capital to approximately $536 million. This follows reports that Synthesia rejected a $3 billion takeover offer from Adobe.
