Jeff DiLullo, CEO of Philips North America, stated that the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare is only beginning to scratch the surface of its potential. Speaking on Bloomberg Businessweek Daily, DiLullo highlighted a significant year-over-year increase in the adoption of AI by clinicians, noting that a substantial portion of physicians now use AI tools to aid in tasks like diagnosis and patient monitoring.
AI's Growing Footprint in Healthcare
DiLullo elaborated on a recent study that revealed a growing trend where clinicians are not only experimenting with AI but are actively integrating it into their daily practices. He pointed out that approximately one-third of physicians surveyed are using AI tools, a number that has seen a notable increase. This surge in adoption is driven by the desire for improved efficiency and better patient outcomes. DiLullo emphasized that AI is being used to assist in critical decision-making processes, such as identifying potential cancer markers in medical images, which can significantly enhance diagnostic accuracy and speed.
