Boston consultancy giant, Bain & Company, recently unveiled its strategy involving the deployment of a suite of 12 artificial intelligence (AI) tools, bolstering productivity for its teams and clients. This suite has been incrementally rolled out since the early stages of 2023 to the firm’s multidisciplinary teams, comprising over 18,500 members worldwide.
Central to this suite is Sage, a proprietary chat platform employing OpenAI's GPT-4 Large Language Model (LLM). Sage stands out for its capacity to rapidly synthesize information, data, and insights across the firm. It enables the consultancy's teams to generate profound insights by leveraging their collective proprietary data and expertise in a matter of seconds.
Beyond Sage, Bain is also integrating a range of other AI tools like Microsoft Copilot, designed to automate routine tasks, content drafting, and insight summarization across the MS Office product suite. Microsoft Copilot is apart of Microsoft’s vision to provide an AI companion across its platforms, including GitHub, Microsoft 365, Bing, and Edge. Starting today, Microsoft is expected to rollout Copilot for Windows 11 users.
True to the potential of the technology, the consultancy recently published a report where it found that 89% of software companies worldwide have integrated AI to "differentiate their products." However, less could be said about the Gaming sector. In another survey they conducted with 25 gaming executives, only 20% believe it will reduce video game development costs. It is expected to yield more utility in areas such as story generation, nonplayable characters (NPCs) and user-generated content.
In addition to adopting the transformative technology, Bain & Company is also actively investing the field. Their venture capital arm, Bain Capital Ventures, recently led a $100 million funding round in Apollo.io at a $1.6 billion valuation. The startup plans to release a slew of Generative AI features to bolster sales intelligence platform.
