PopSockets is a consumer hardware company that gained significant traction with its signature PopGrip, a collapsible phone accessory that attaches to the back of a mobile device. The company was founded by David Barnett and has grown to sell over 290 million products in 115 countries. Notably, PopSockets was built using a bootstrapped, low-dilution path, starting with less than $500k and no institutional capital. The company has also demonstrated a commitment to patent protection and has stood up to large competitors like Amazon. David Barnett eventually handed off the CEO role to an internal successor.
