Caudal Energy, a University of Oxford spin-off founded in 2024, has secured €4.9 million (£4.3 million) in its first funding round. The investment, led by Oxford Science Enterprises and Empirical Ventures with participation from Zero Carbon Capital and Creator Fund, will enable Caudal to demonstrate its novel oscillating foil tidal energy technology at a commercially relevant scale. This funding aims to accelerate the company's path toward delivering predictable renewable power by unlocking tidal energy potential at a wider range of sites.
