Amazon is officially opening its vast logistics infrastructure to the public, launching Amazon Supply Chain Services (ASCS). This move allows any business, regardless of size, to utilize the same network that supports Amazon and its third-party sellers for moving, storing, and delivering goods.

For years, hundreds of thousands of Amazon sellers have relied on the company's logistics network to handle millions of packages across various sales channels. Now, ASCS extends these capabilities to businesses across industries like healthcare, automotive, manufacturing, and retail.

Brands such as Procter & Gamble, 3M, Lands' End, and American Eagle Outfitters are among the early adopters, integrating Amazon's services into their own supply chains.

From Internal Engine to External Service

Amazon's journey into logistics began with a core belief: fast, reliable delivery is fundamental to customer experience. This led to the development of one of the world's most efficient supply chains, encompassing freight, fulfillment centers, and parcel delivery.

This mirrors Amazon's strategy with Amazon Web Services (AWS), which grew from internal infrastructure to a dominant cloud computing platform. ASCS represents a similar expansion, offering Amazon's proven operational expertise to the broader market.

"Amazon is bringing the infrastructure, intelligence, and scale of its supply chain services—proven over decades—to businesses everywhere, much like Amazon Web Services did for cloud computing," stated Peter Larsen, vice president of Amazon Supply Chain Services.

He added that the company is confident ASCS can provide any business with the same cost efficiency, reliability, and speed that Amazon offers its own customers.

Seller Success as a Proving Ground

The efficacy of Amazon's logistics for external partners was demonstrated through its Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) program. Since 2006, sellers have shipped over 80 billion units via FBA, offloading the complexities of picking, packing, and shipping.

Amazon expanded these offerings to address challenges beyond direct fulfillment, including cross-border logistics, customs, bulk storage, and multi-channel distribution. This integrated approach now supports hundreds of thousands of sellers globally, with those using end-to-end solutions reporting nearly 20% higher sales.

"Amazon has added value at every stage of our supply chain from cross-border logistics to warehouse storage and parcel shipping," said Todd Bairstow, founder of Finer Form. "We’ve been able to save money, eliminate operational complexity, and it’s given us more time to focus on what matters: building our brand."

This success with its own sellers provided the foundation and conviction to offer these comprehensive services to any business.

How ASCS Works

ASCS offers flexibility, allowing businesses to select services tailored to their needs, whether it's growing on Amazon or managing global raw material distribution.

  • Freight: Amazon's extensive transportation network covers ocean, air, ground, and rail, designed for speed and reliability. Services include customs clearance and shipment visibility.
  • Distribution and Fulfillment: Businesses can import, store, and position inventory closer to customers, fulfilling orders across multiple channels from a single network.
  • Parcel Shipping: Predictable two-to-five-day delivery speeds are available for orders across all sales channels, with seven-day-a-week service.

ASCS aims to provide capacity, speed, and reliability across all its offerings, leveraging the same infrastructure that powers the Amazon logistics network and has supported initiatives like Amazon's Disaster Response Tech.

Businesses can access a centralized console to discover and sign up for ASCS solutions starting today.
