Open Software Ecosystem Push

AMD is doubling down on its open software strategy with ROCm, its open platform for AI development. New tools like ROCm.ai aim to assist developers in building and optimizing GPU software faster by integrating popular AI coding agents.

This open approach is critical for fostering adoption, especially as companies like OpenAI are optimizing their frameworks, such as Triton, to work seamlessly with ROCm on AMD hardware. OpenAI plans to deploy Helios racks starting in late 2026.

Industry giants like Meta are also validating AMD's full AI stack for their massive infrastructure needs. Meta is testing 6th Gen AMD EPYC CPUs and Helios racks as part of their gigawatt-scale AI buildout plans.

Cerebras is collaborating with AMD to combine its low-latency AI compute with Helios for enhanced inference efficiency. AT&T is leveraging AMD technology for its enterprise AI deployments, including its telecom-specific OTel 2.0 model.

AMD also announced future roadmaps, with next-generation EPYC server CPUs based on "Zen 7" architecture slated for 2028, and "Zen 8" architecture CPUs in 2030. New Instinct MI500 and MI600 series GPUs are planned for 2027 and 2028, respectively, powering future iterations of Helios.
