CreateAI (formerly TuSimple) is a Chinese AI company that pivoted from autonomous trucking to AI-powered animation and gaming technology in December 2024. The company launched its first image-to-video AI model named Ruyi, available as open source. CreateAI is developing an animated feature film of The Three-Body Problem in collaboration with anime designer Shoji Kawamori, and secured the license for the wuxia IP The Legend of the Condor Heroes for a large-scale open-world RPG. The company expects to lower AAA game production costs by 70% using AI. TuSimple originally raised over $648M in VC funding and completed a $1.35B IPO in 2021 before shutting down its U.S. self-driving truck operations and delisting in 2024.
