Nordic Quantum Computing Group (NQCG) was Europe's first quantum computing startup, founded in 2000 with the goal of developing scalable quantum computers. The company focused on programmable and scalable optical quantum computers, offering quantum algorithm development, photonics chip design, and quantum machine learning. NQCG ceased operations on December 6, 2024, citing challenges such as a lack of national quantum strategy, insufficient scientific infrastructure, high taxes, and difficulties in attracting international talent.
