Metaforms has raised $9 million in Series A funding to expand its AI platform for market research agencies. Peak XV Partners led the round, with participation from Nexus Venture Partners and Together Fund, bringing the San Francisco-based startup's total funding to just over $10 million.
The company builds AI agents that automate operational workflows within research agencies, addressing capacity constraints that have led some firms to turn down client work. Founded in 2022 by Akshat Tyagi and Arjun S, Metaforms emerged from the founders' own difficulty accessing professional market research as early-stage entrepreneurs.
Market research agencies typically handle complex, manual processes when clients commission studies. When a pharmaceutical company wants to test doctor preferences for drug delivery methods, for example, agencies spend days converting hundreds of questions into survey code, coordinating with multiple panel providers through email chains, and writing data validation scripts. While requiring expertise, much of this work follows repetitive patterns that Metaforms' AI agents can automate.
The platform integrates with existing research tools like Decipher, SPSS, and Confirmit rather than requiring agencies to overhaul their tech stacks. AI agents handle tasks including questionnaire-to-code conversion, data quality flagging, panel vendor coordination, and quota tracking across multi-country studies. This allows research professionals to focus on analysis and strategy rather than operational bottlenecks.
Since launching commercially six months ago, Metaforms has signed four of the world's top twenty research agencies, including Strat7. The platform now processes over 1,000 surveys monthly and serves Fortune 500 companies. Every customer that started with a single AI agent has expanded to adopt additional ones, achieving what the company describes as a 100% expansion rate.
The market research industry, valued at approximately $130 billion globally, faces pressure from clients demanding faster turnarounds and competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards. Metaforms positions itself as enabling agencies to scale capacity without proportional increases in headcount or operational complexity.
Peak XV Partners' Shailendra Singh noted the company's rapid scaling among large global research agencies. Together Fund's Manav Garg highlighted Metaforms as an example of Indian startups building for global markets, while Nexus Venture Partners' Jishnu Bhattacharjee and Arjun Gandhi emphasized the team's customer-focused approach to AI implementation.
The Series A funding will support team expansion, with plans to triple current workforce, and development of new capabilities including automated report generation and voice-based research workflows. The company aims to process over 100,000 surveys annually as it expands language support and deepens integrations with industry software platforms.
Metaforms represents a focused approach to AI implementation in professional services, targeting specific operational pain points rather than attempting broad automation. By reducing the time research teams spend on routine tasks, the platform potentially makes professional-grade market research accessible to a broader range of companies, from early-stage startups to multinational corporations launching complex tracking studies.
