Vienna-based chatlyn, an AI communication hub for hotels, announced today it has secured €8 million in Series A funding. The company's platform unifies guest communications across multiple channels, including email, WhatsApp, SMS, webchat, and social media. It offers intelligent automation, real-time translation in 35+ languages, and integrates with property management systems. chatlyn aims to improve operational efficiency and revenue growth for hotels by streamlining communication and automating responses. The global hotel industry loses an estimated €10 billion annually due to fragmented communication systems.
The round was led by Smedvig Ventures. Participating investors included AnyDesk business angel Andreas Burike, Austrian transport leader Blaguss, and strategic hospitality angels. The company also received an innovation grant from the FFG, Austria’s national funding institution for industry-related research and development.
"Every day, hotels are missing revenue because a guest inquiry comes in at 2 AM and gets lost in the shuffle, or a staff member can’t quickly find the right response in the right language," commented Nicolas Vorsteher, CEO and Co-founder of chatlyn.
The Series A funding will be used for product innovation, including developing agentic AI capabilities for phone support and launching an AI Booking Assistant. Geographic expansion will focus on German-speaking regions, wider Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the UAE. The company also plans to expand its AI and development team.
chatlyn was founded in 2022 and currently serves over 1,000 properties across 30 countries.
Similar startups include companies like Guesty, which offers property management software with communication tools, and Nory, another AI-powered hospitality platform focusing on automation. These companies also aim to improve hotel operations and guest communication, though their specific approaches and features may differ.
