A coalition of technology companies, CEOs, and venture firms has penned a letter urging Washington to embrace these open frameworks, citing their critical role in fostering American competitiveness, driving innovation, and bolstering national security.

The initiative, signed by prominent figures like Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) CEO Satya Nadella and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, emphasizes that "With the right choices, open-weight AI can expand opportunity, strengthen competition, extend American technological leadership, mitigate risk, and ensure that the benefits of this extraordinary technology are shared broadly across our economy." Open-weight, you can download and run the trained model. The data code is not necessarily public. Open source, it's all available."
