Rail Vision is an automated early-warning system (AEWS) for train safety offered by Rail Safe Ltd. When mounted on a locomotive, Rail Visions specially adapted sensor can detect track hazards at a distance of one to two miles. Rail Visions unique algorithm provides a preliminary classification of any potential obstacle, sending an alert and visual image to the driver via an on-board monitor. All relevant information, including images and NAV data, is also uploaded to a command-and-control center, made available to other network clients (such as other trains in the vicinity), and recorded. Rail Vision also automatically updates information about rail conditions in real time to ensure maximum train safety. In the event of an accident, all captured data can be recovered from storage and used for investigatory purposes. The Rail Vision solution greatly reduces the risk of injury and death for those aboard the train, and for pedestrians, vehicular passengers, and animals in its path.
