XRobotics, a San Francisco-based robotics company, has successfully raised $2.5 million in seed funding to fuel its expansion. The round was led by FinSight Ventures, with participation from SOSV, MANA Ventures, and Republic Capital. This investment will be used to increase production of the company's xPizza Cube, a countertop robot designed to automate pizza preparation in restaurants.
The xPizza Cube, about the size of a washing machine, uses machine learning to efficiently apply toppings to pizza dough, significantly reducing labor costs and preparation time for pizzerias. The company's approach focuses on assistive technology, integrating seamlessly into existing restaurant workflows, unlike previous, more ambitious robotic pizza-making ventures.
XRobotics' current model, launched in 2023, is already producing 25,000 pizzas monthly for a range of clients, from small businesses to larger chains. The company plans to leverage the new funding to meet growing demand and expand its operations into Mexico and Canada.
This successful seed round underscores the growing interest in robotics within the food service industry and highlights XRobotics' innovative approach to automating a specific, high-demand task within the pizza-making process.
