Unvale, a platform dedicated to illustrators, writers, and storytellers, has raised $1.8 million in a pre-seed funding round to expand its user base and introduce new content and social features. Investors in the round include Antler, Graham & Walker, Ganas Ventures, GFR Fund, LongJump VC, Network Ventures, and Vitalize Angels.
Unvale offers a dedicated space for creatives to develop, share, and self-publish long-form content, addressing a gap in the creator economy where short-form video platforms have traditionally dominated. With over 20,000 monthly active users generating 160,000 original creations each month and over 1 million social engagements, the platform is building a community where emerging storytellers can showcase their work and grow an audience.

Unlike traditional publishing routes or social platforms that prioritize short-form content, Unvale integrates content creation with audience development. Users can develop their stories incrementally, sharing characters, artwork, and world-building elements through discoverable social posts that engage their followers. The platform’s engagement-driven model encourages creators to refine their work and expand their narratives over time.
Founded by Casey Lawlor and Bri Clark, Unvale aims to support the next generation of creative franchises, from webcomics and novels to illustrated series and games. Early adopters on the platform have amassed a combined 320,000 followers, with strong engagement on nearly every piece of content. According to user feedback, audience interaction is a key motivator for continued creative development.
Unvale initially launched as a character creation platform, recognizing that many young storytellers begin with world-building and character design before expanding into larger narratives. The platform provides tools that allow users to develop their ideas at their own pace, eventually leading to fully realized stories. To date, Unvale users have shared over 2 million original creative works, with 95% expressing aspirations to publish their projects in various formats, including comics, novels, series, and video games.
Committed to maintaining an AI-free environment, Unvale differentiates itself by focusing solely on human-created content. As AI-generated media becomes more prevalent, the platform is positioning itself as a space where original creative work can thrive without competition from algorithm-generated content.
Looking ahead, Unvale plans to introduce publishing and monetization tools, enabling creators to manage their entire journey—from concept to publication—within the platform. Future feature expansions may include video support, voice-over capabilities, and webcomic viewing, further enhancing the platform’s engagement potential.
“Unvale is consistently executing on their vision to reshape how creative content is produced and distributed,” remarked Ryan Sommerville, General Partner at Antler VC.
